Description:
Since Asian Human Services began helping South East Asian refugees more than 33 years ago, the organization has retained a single purpose: to positively transform lives among Chicago’s immigrants, refugees, and other underserved communities. Today, even as the world changes, AHS continues to assist individuals and families in the same way. Providing aid to as far away as Korea and Sudan and as close as the Uptown neighborhood on Chicago’s North Side. Though the size and diversity of our client base has grown, the quality and effectiveness of our health, education and employment services remain intact. The Mental Health Program in Uptown was the first service offered at AHS in 1978. Programming is designed to meet the psychological and social needs of Asian immigrants, refugees, and other underserved communities. The program is Medicaid and Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) certified. Our goal is to provide culturally sensitive and linguistically appropriate services so that clients can achieve independent and productive lives, and integrate effectively into their communities. Our services are offered in Khmer, Vietnamese, Korean, Mandarin, Cantonese, Bosnian, Thai, Hindi, Arabic, Lao and more.
