Description:

The Silver Spring, Maryland office of the Kolmac Clinic opened in 1973 as an outpatient alcohol treatment program. The program was co-founded by Dr. George Kolodner and Jim McMahon. It was the first intensive outpatient program (IOP) in the country. All other alcohol and drug rehabilitation at the time was being delivered on an inpatient, residential or partial-hospitalization basis. To date the Clinic has treated over 18,000 patients. This office provides ambulatory detoxification, intensive outpatient alcohol and drug treatment, continuing care and family services. Clients at this office have the option of attending our Day or Evening program. The Day IOP program runs weekdays, from 10:00am to 1:00pm and the Evening IOP program runs weekdays, from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. The continuing care and family schedules vary, so please check with us for the current schedule.
