Description:
Our mission here at The Bridge is to help young people and families achieve social and emotional health. The Bridge accomplishes its' mission by providing comprehensive counseling and therapy services, specializing in the many emotional or behavioral problems facing youth and their families. Counseling is available to preschool-age children (Early Childhood Behavioral Health Program) and youth through age 17. Mentoring programs are also available for children 7-15 years of age. Services are available to all Palatine Township residents regardless of ability to pay. The Bridge Substance Abuse Program includes comprehensive in-school and community-based intervention for Palatine area high school and middle school students. Individualized treatment plans are the cornerstone of The Bridge’s substance abuse program. Depending on the severity of the problem and other variables, therapists can select specific services from a menu of in-school and in-office treatment options in combinations that match the individual’s needs. Bridge staff members currently provide groups at Fremd and Palatine high schools. In-office services are also available and include family, individual, and group counseling Groups are available for students who seek assistance with substance abuse as well as for children of alcoholics who need help in addressing issues that could lead to their own substance abuse. A key component of services is improving communication in families and addressing issues that often lead to substance abuse, such as low self-esteem, poor peer relationships, poor family relations, family histories that may include divorce, loss, abuse and other difficult experiences.
