Description:
Highland Rivers Health was created in February 2002 by the consolidation of Georgia Highlands Center and Three Rivers Behavioral Health Services and has become the second largest public safety net provider in the state of Georgia. Serving 12 counties covering a 4,400 square mile geographic area since 1973, Highland Rivers Health provides services to 14,431 children, adolescents, and adults who have mental illness, addiction, or developmental and intellectual disabilities and their families. Our Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a 3 phase program that includes an individual’s involvement in their treatment to not only manage their symptoms but to enhance their ability to cope with challenges in life, build resilience, and facilitate recovery. Services promote recovery, self-sufficiency, self-advocacy, socialization, development of natural supports, maintaining skills learned, gathering support services such as adequate and affordable housing and gainful employment. Participants learn how to address life management issues in a changing environment without the use of mood/mind altering substances. Services provided include family members/significant others when approved by the participatnt. Family involvement is encouraged to enhance improvement in family functioning and to assist in maintaining goals and objectives of the consumer. Each Phase of the IOP is comprised of 1 to 2 months and will require: attendance in groups from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.; 12-Step Meetings weekly with signed verification of that attendance; and, weekly random urine drug screens (UDS).
