Description:
For 44 years we were known as Bishop Gooden Home. As the program has expanded, including two additional addiction treatment facilities and several levels of care, the decision was made in 2006 to change the name to The Gooden Center. Bishop Gooden Home houses clients in BASIC Residential Treatment. Built in 1894, Bishop Gooden Home is historically significant. All material used to construct the house arrived by wagon. In the last decade the building has undergone major renovation and expansion. The craftsman style wide front porch is where the community gathers to share experience, strength and hope with the new clients. Conversations on the front porch, many say, are among the high points of their inpatient substance abuse treatment experience. With a capacity for 19 residents, the house is also the center of The Gooden Center community. Residents may be joined at meals in the main dining room by alumni or residents from one of the sober living houses.
