Description:
A woman enters treatment with a deep feeling of guilt and shame and has great difficulties in addressing sensitive issues of a high risk substance abusing lifestyle. In many cases, she has been the victim of various forms of verbal, physical or sexual abuse. We take a holistic approach to chemical dependency treatment. We view it as a problem of the whole person. Problems may include thinking patterns, negative behavior, interpersonal skills, spiritual and moral issues, as well as occupational & educational functioning. Our Mission: To provide comprehensive treatment services for substance abusing women and their children with a special emphasis on addicted prenatal women.†Quapaw House, Inc. requires females to be pregnant or parenting to qualify for admission. Priority is given in the following order: Pregnant IV users, Pregnant, IV users, Special Needs. Quapaw House is licensed to provide Regional Alcohol and Drug Detoxification (RADD) Services. Our Detoxification Program provides evaluations, observation (3 Day), and medical detoxification (5 Day). These services are facilitated by LPN's or Regional Alcohol and Drug Detoxification Specialists (trained and certified by the Arkansas Department of Health, Bureau of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention) and supervised by our Medical Director and Medical Services Coordinator. Clients will be evaluated and recommendations will be made in regards to a follow up plan which may include one of the other treatment modalities available at Quapaw House. Pregnant women in first and third trimester will be referred to a local hospital for detoxification. Pregnant women in their second trimester are referred to the Residential Alcohol and Drug Detoxification unit located at Quapaw House's Adult Residential facility for the duration of detoxification services. Upon completion of those services, women are then moved to BARBS Place for the remainder of their residential treatment stay. BARBS Place offers an on-site State Licensed Child Care Program for our women who enter our facility with children 6 years old and under. The children attend the Child Care Program while the mothers are in groups learning recovery skills, parenting skills & job training. BARBS Place refers expectant mothers to the Mercy Pregnancy Care Clinic at St. Josephs Hospital or Physicians for Women at National Park Medical Center. These mothers will be provided with prenatal care, delivery & post partum care.
