Description:
Cheaha Regional Mental Health Center (CRMHC) is a public, non-profit corporation which is governed by a 21 member Board of Directors. CRMHC provides a continuum of services for persons with intellectual disabilities, serious mental illness and substance abuse in a four county area in east Alabama, which includes Clay, Coosa, Randolph, and Talladega Counties. The Caradale House was established in 1976 in collaboration with Avondale Mills, hence the name Care and dale or Caradale. It was located in what was known as the Cotton Bowl because it was the outlet for the sales of material overruns by Avondale Mills. It started with twelve male beds and gradually grew to house twelve males and four females. In 1986 a new facility was dedicated across the street from the original facility and the name was changed to Caradale Lodge. This beautiful facility originally housed twelve males and four females in a state of the art building. The facility has since grown to include a separate women’s facility that houses eight additional beds and provides an array of treatment and prevention services to the community and the State.
