Details: Mountain Manor Treatment Center at Emmitsburg (MMTC-E) has treated more than 40,000 patients during its forty year history and provides adult male and female residents with medically monitored inpatient detoxification services, medically managed intensive inpatient services, Intensive Outpatient Services and Partial Hospitalization. MMTC-E is accredited by the Joint Commission and certified by the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Office of Health Care Quality. Since 1998, MMTC-E has focused its strategic plan on the development and implementation of integrated programs for the management and treatment of clients with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders and on expanding its specialty programs to meet the complex needs of different target populations. MMTC-E clinicians have demonstrated particular expertise in the creation of effective and evidence-based programming for: women with children, pregnant women, the homeless, injection drug users, individuals with HIV/AIDS and Adult Justice System clients. Mountain Manor has been one of the national leaders in the use of innovative approaches to the treatment of opioid problems and has participated in the research that has demonstrated the effectiveness of medications, e.g. Naltrexone and Buprenorphine in combination with a continuum of clinical services. Mountain Manor was the first in the region to offer Vivitrol (extended release Naltrexone) now approved by the FDA for opioid addiction. The combination of Vivitrol injections with evidence-based group and individual counseling provides new hope for young adults and adults who have difficulty in stopping their use and are at high risk of relapse. Transportation to Emmitsburg is available. Safe Harbor is a residential program for pregnant and post-partum substance-abusing women who enter treatment with their children and infants, thus eliminating a major obstacle to treatment. Services offered include an approved nursery, child care, after-school tutoring, parenting classes, vocational preparation and a step-down transition track that leads to community integration.
