Details: St. Elizabeth's Comprehensive Addiction Program, widely known as SECAP, is Boston’s oldest hospital-based program for the treatment of addiction. It was founded in 1976 to meet community concerns. SECAP is accredited by The Joint Commission and fully licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s Bureau of Substance Abuse Services. SECAP cares for individuals who are addicted to alcohol or drugs, including heroin and other opiates, and provides emergency department screening, inpatient monitoring immediate access to medical specialists including psychiatry, infectious disease, gastroenterology, pain management, and intensivists as well as spiritual care. SECAP treats more than 1,000 inpatients and 22,000 outpatients annually.
