Details: Friendship House Association of American Indians, Inc. was established by the Christian Reform Church in San Francisco in 1963 as a gathering place for the thousands of American Indian people who were relocated to the Bay Area by the federal government during the 1950's and 1960's. Friendship House has since evolved into a wide reaching prevention, treatment and recovery service center, respondent to the emergent needs of the American Indian community. Today the agency operates three major programs focusing on prevention and recovery from addiction with a $5 million annual operating budget and 65 full-time staff.
