Details: GTB Behavioral Health Services provides individual, couples, family and group counseling for individuals experiencing stressful situations, emotional difficulties or substance use disorders. BHS also provide Chemical Dependency Assessments for the courts and for the Michigan Department of State Driver Assessment and Appeal Division. BHS is a State licensed Outpatient Substance Abuse Program providing Screening, Assessment, Referral and Follow-up (S.A.R.F.) and Community Change, Alternatives, Information, and Training (C.A.I.T.) and all clinical staff are licensed by the state of Michigan for mental health counseling. Direct services are provided in four State Licensed locations: The Medicine Lodge in Peshawbestown (our main office), at the Benzie and Charlevoix Satellite Offices and at the GTB 3-Mile Offices in Traverse City. BHS program is a Tribal Access and Care Coordination Center as well as a Clinical Treatment Provider for the Anishnaabek Healing Circle Access to Recovery Program (ATR). BHS Clinical staff assist with inpatient residential treatment referrals for substance use disorders and help develop aftercare plans for ongoing sober support to individuals upon their return to the community. A contracted psychiatrist is here one day per week to provide medication management, therapy and psychiatric assessments for adult patients. The role of the Behavioral Health Counseling Staff is to provide assessment and ongoing outpatient counseling to Tribal Members wishing to make life changes.
