Details: Peninsula Addiction Services recognizes chemical dependency as a disease that is progressive, potentially fatal, and treatable. The disease of addiction is characterized by compulsion and the continued use of substances despite negative and adverse consequences. It is debilitating to a person’s emotional, social, and spiritual well-being. The treatment of chemical dependency involves the intervention of skilled professionals, a commitment to self-help fellowship, and the participation of the family in the recovery process. Group interaction, individual counseling, and attendance at self-help meetings are integral parts of the treatment program. We combine our program with the philosophies of AA, NA, and Alanon for a successful approach in the treatment of the disease of addiction.
