Details: Asian Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment (ADAPT) is a comprehensive multi-cultural and multi-lingual adult outpatient program that provides integrated substance abuse and mental health treatment services. Recognizing that recovery is a lifelong process, our healing approaches address the physical, mental and emotional health of individuals and families. Our program goals include: 1) To provide a safe and respectful counseling space for people from all walks of life; and 2) To reduce and eliminate substance misuse and improve mental health conditions that lead to healthy and meaningful lives. We believe that behavioral health is a fundamental part of overall wellness for all families and communities. As a community, we can learn to recognize and address mental health, alcohol and other drug problems. Our counseling approach is strength-based, valuing and accepting people for who they are, who they have become and who they can be. Together we can grow stronger and work towards healing. Open to San Francisco residents 18 year and older with a substance misuse and/or mental health needs. Clients receive individualized, client-centered and culturally competent treatment that combines western therapies and alternative therapies (yoga, acupuncture, and Mindfulness). Treatment includes screening and assessment, individual and group counseling, process and psycho-education groups, case management, relapse prevention, recreational activities and continuing care. ADAPT has structured activities which encourage clients to build independence, self sufficiency, confidence, pride and supportive relationships within the community setting and thereby reduce use of substances. Program’s unique history of being established in the 1990’s to address substance abuse amongst the Asian American and immigrant population has laid a strong foundation for working with diverse populations.
