Description: On July 25th, 2008 Charlestown Recovery House opened its doors to adult men who are afflicted with the disease of alcoholism and chemical dependency. This program is operated by Bay Cove at a site developed and owned by the Charlestown Recovery House Inc. Their Board consists of residents of Charlestown who have worked with the community and gathered local support for the past 11 years. The result is a beautiful, newly constructed state-of-the-art residential program designed to provide a safe and supportive environment which will promote recovery for the 25 men who live there. The Charlestown Recovery House provides residential treatment and recovery within a structured, therapeutic milieu. Our program is based on some 35 years of experience with treatment for alcohol and drug addiction which has helped thousands recover and stay sober and clean. It is founded on the 12 steps and group interaction, but it is also based on one on one, individual counseling. In order to quit drug and alcohol abuse, people need life altering changes and this occurs through education, understanding and implementation. Each resident is required to sign a pledge to refrain from using drugs or alcohol, and is expected to secure and maintain employment during his six month stay at CRH. During this time he will be prepared for eventual integration back into the community. We believe that everyone has value and that by following the principles behind Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous, self-respect and dignity can be restored, and a healthy way of living will be achieved. Charlestown Recovery House is the first recovery home in Bay Cove’s Addiction Services and is a natural addition to its service continuum. Referrals come from TSS programs, shelters and the criminal justice system. We are generally at full capacity with an active wait list.
