Description: Thoughts - Feelings - Behavior is a cognitive process that can create a cycle of addiction. At ADR we re-frame the thoughts, and talk about the feelings so the client can choose different behaviors instead of the desire to reach for a drink or a drug. We work to move clients past denial into acceptance and then empower them to make choices that will support long-term recovery. ADR is the oldest free-standing private outpatient treatment service in Maryland. Started in 1982 in Prince George's county we now serve clients in Anne Arundel, Charles, and Prince George's Counties. We are licensed by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene in Maryland and certified by the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) to provide early intervention for first time DWI/DUI offenders. The executive director is Fritz Schmidt, M.A. Mr. Schmidt has worked in alcohol and drug treatment since 1987 and has developed treatment protocols throughout Maryland for special populations, for inpatient as well as outpatient treatment and served from 2007-13 as the Vice President of the Maryland Addiction Directors Council (MADC).
