Description: Choices of Louisiana, Inc. is a private, out-patient center with facilities located in Alexandria and LaPlace. Our out-patient facilities serve patients who are dependent on Heroin, OxyContin, and other Schedule II narcotics. The Choices facilities offer state-of-the-art medical services and have a highly-trained professional staff that is committed to the wellbeing of the patient and the community. Choices of Louisiana requires the patient to present with physical symptoms of mild withdrawals from narcotics, one year documented physical dependency to narcotics, and evidence they have the ability to pay for services. Treatment for narcotic dependence is one of the most widely studied treatments of any disease in the world. Choices' out-patient program provides the dependent individual with an array of rehabilitative services. Appropriately prescribed medication relieves withdrawal symptoms, eliminates opioid cravings, and allows for normal functioning. The efficacy of appropriate medication increases significantly when coupled with counseling, on-site medical services, and other supportive treatment services. Choices of Louisiana utilizes Methadone and Suboxone as the appropriate proven medication for patients who are unable to maintain sobriety. The proper use of this medication prevents the spread of disease, stabilizes the patient for long-term employment, and improves the patient's quality of life. The goal of our facilities is to move the patient toward a drug-free lifestyle, if medically indicated. Patients who have co-occurring disorders may be maintained by medication for a longer length of time.

Website: http://www.fphsa.org/
Description: Addictive Disorders Services (ADS) is the branch of Florida Parishes Human Services Authority that provides treatment and prevention services for addictions related to alcohol, drugs, gambling, and tobacco. Treatment of addictive disorders is very successful when it is consistent and intensive. Annually, our treatment programs in the Florida Parishes successfully treat hundreds of individuals dealing with problems associated with addiction and substance abuse. Treatment services are usually available within 48 hours of a telephone call to an outpatient clinic. FPHSA offers highly effective, non-medical, intensive counseling services, some of which have become model programs in the field of addictions treatment. Willingness to receive help is required for these programs to succeed. Group and family therapy are our primary forms of treatment, as these are widely accepted as the most effective forms of counseling for addiction and substance abuse. It is critical to empathically address individual needs with structure and without delay. Counseling provided in small groups accommodates those seeking help in a timely manner. Our outpatient clinics provide the bulk of treatment in 4 stages specifically designed to address the dynamic individual needs of lasting sobriety. All treatment is carefully assessed initially in outpatient clinics with most individuals treated exclusively in this setting. The course of treatment is reduced from daily to twice weekly after approximately 2 months and to weekly in succeeding weeks. All participants are involved in 12-step recovery programs operating outside of FPHSA clinics. Treatment duration for most is 7-9 months. Occasionally, outpatient referrals are made to our inpatient programs (the Alcohol Drug Unit and Fontainebleau Treatment Center) where individuals may reside for a brief duration. Inpatient services are accessed through the outpatient clinics only.

Serving adolescents, adults, geriatrics and members of the military suffering from mental illness, chemical dependency, and co-occurring disorders for over two decades, Vermilion offers an array of individualized treatments and specialized programs. Substance abuse refers to harmful or hazardous use of psychoactive substances, including alcohol and illicit drugs. Additionally, substance abuse and addiction is a complex illness that is characterized by intense and uncontrollable cravings, paired with compulsive drug seeking and use that are continued despite the presence of devastating consequences. While no one takes a drug or drinks alcohol for the first time with the intention of becoming an addict, over time an individual’s ability to choose not to take these substances is compromised and their life becomes entirely consumed with using. Furthermore, psychoactive substances can lead to development of behavioral, cognitive, and physiological problems that develop after repeated use. Here at Vermilion we understand that right now you may be feeling that there is no hope in being able to control your substance abuse, however with the right treatment and support, many are able to overcome their addictions and lead a sober lifestyle. With special attention paid to individualized treatment that is compassionate, comprehensive, and high quality, the programs offered at Vermilion are specifically designed to meet the needs of our patients. At Vermilion we implement therapeutic techniques that are proven and evidence-based in a structured and safe environment beneficial to healing and recovery. Our experienced and qualified staff provide ongoing support as each patient submerges themselves in the therapeutic process and works on improving mental, emotional, and social wellness. Our Intensive Outpatient Program serves both patients and their families as they learn to cope with and recover from alcoholism and addiction to other drugs. Our program provides both group and family therapy, and focuses on relapse prevention, healthy coping skills, and communication skills needed for successful recovery. Depending on the needs of the individual, our staff also provides treatment for depression, anxiety, grief, post-traumatic stress, bipolar disorder and other mood and behavioral issues. The Addiction Recovery Center offers a no-charge assessment prior to admission. Bridge House Corporation - Bridge House (men’s Residential Facility)
Location: New Orleans, LA - 70125
Contact Phone: (504) 522-4475
Website: http://www.bridgehouse.org/
Description: Through its long-term residential treatment program, Bridge House offers residents seeking recovery the time needed to become sober and productive individuals again. The Bridge House treatment program, which is based on the disease concept of addiction, is intensive and highly structured. Residents reside in a dormitory setting and progress through several phases of treatment: stabilization, primary, independent living and aftercare. Through these steps the previously disordered and dysfunctional individual begins to regain his self-esteem and develop a sense of self-worth. Bridge House accepts males aged 18 and over who are able to admit to having substance abuse problems and are seeking help. The length of treatment is determined by the resident himself. An individualized treatment plan is set up for each resident in the first days of treatment. The treatment plan is created to provide the resident with the appropriate skills to facilitate his ability to develop the habits of recovery and promote positive changes and growth in recovery. In order to progress through treatment the goals of the treatment plan are met. While there is actual paperwork – or homework to be completed – the goals include a demonstration of internal change over time. The program is designed to be doable in 6 months. This does not, however, mean that everyone will complete in 6 months. That determination is made by the clinical and vocational staff. The resident must demonstrate an attitude of recovery. Length of treatment is not a fixed amount of time. Bridge House supports individuals through the process of recovery and will work with them to achieve that goal. As a resident enters the Bridge House program he participates in a Stabilization period during which he is provided with an opportunity to become familiar with the daily routines of Bridge House. As a resident moves into primary care, he learns to live the life of sobriety one day at a time. He works with the therapeutic community, the clinical staff and the vocational staff to learn about his addiction and how to recover using what he is learning in his day-to-day life. When this phase of treatment is completed, the resident is allowed to get an outside job. At this time a resident begins to pay a resident service fee. He will demonstrate his ability to budget his money in preparation for his re-entry into mainstream society as well as his ability to maintain a program of recovery. He continues to attend therapeutic groups and vocational rehabilitation counseling. The final phase is re-entry. The resident moves into permanent housing that meets the criteria of a supportive environment for recovery post treatment. He continues with group and individual therapy for a time determined with his counselor. When this requirement is met – the date is set for completion. There is a Completion Ceremony for the successful completion of the program. At this time, one half of the client services fees generated from employment are refunded.

Palmetto Addiction Recovery Center
Location: Rayville, LA - 71269
Contact Phone: (318) 728-2970
Website: http://www.palmettocenter.com
Description: The professionals at Palmetto Addiction Recovery Center have provided high quality Chemical Dependency Treatment for more than 20 years in Louisiana and nationwide. Palmetto offers care for male and female adults(18 and older) faced with the challenges of alcoholism and drug dependencies. Our treatment team has over 250 years of experience with recovery and treatment of addictions along with treatment for patients afflicted with coexisting psychiatric disorders. The staff at Palmetto includes addictionists, psychiatrists, psychologists, certified substance abuse counselors, masters level social workers, and a comprehensive nursing staff. At Palmetto, we believe that addiction is a primary drive that must be managed through education, cognitive restructuring, emotive therapies, and the experience of learning to live addiction free. Each of these processes helps our clients to unearth the issues that drive their addiction and learn how to halt the addictive response. In doing so, clients begin to recover from the shame and guilt that surrounds their illness, and learn how to relate to self and others in healthier ways. The goal of treatment for every client who enters Palmetto is that they are given every opportunity to develop the coping skills necessary to build a long term, self-sustaining recovery based on abstinence from alcohol, drugs, and other mood and mind altering addictions. Treatment centers often use a rigid approach to treatment that requires the patient to "plug in" to a fixed treatment program without careful evaluation. This approach to treatment often results in instances of misdiagnosis and mistreatment of the patient. A primary goal at Palmetto is to ensure that this does not occur. We believe that the key to successful treatment is accurate evaluation, which assesses all aspects of the patient's symptoms and living situation. We provide a careful medical examination to identify any medical problems resulting from substance abuse, and to properly manage any concurrent medical conditions. This is followed by a thorough psychosocial and substance abuse evaluation to identify the problems that must be addressed in the treatment of the patient and the family. Finally, if indicated, psychological testing and psychiatric evaluations are used to ensure that all psychiatric conditions are discovered and properly treated. This information is used to formulate an individual treatment plan. Every morning, our multi-disciplinary team meets to review each patient's progress so that our approach and treatment is continuously updated. Goal oriented and patient specific methods provide the basis for patient care and prevention of relapse. Palmetto's program includes the use of group, individual and family psychotherapy. Social skills, physical fitness and nutrition are stressed. Daily attendance at 12-step meetings is mandatory. Special issues such as gambling, sexual addiction and relapse prevention are addressed. Treatment with medication, if necessary, is determined by the physician.
