Our behavioral health professionals are specially trained and licensed in the fields of mental health and substance use and utilize their expertise to evaluate, diagnose and treat these disorders. They work together to build on our clientsâ€™ strengths through a collaborative and respectful approach. Mental health problems are health conditions that may bring about changes in thinking, mood, and behavior. When these problems become more severe they are called mental illnesses which include anxiety disorders, ADHD, depression, schizophrenia and others. Substance use or abuse can include excessive drinking, using illegal drugs, taking prescription drugs without the advice or supervision of a physician, or taking excessive amounts of over-the-counter (OTC) drugs. Our professionals can help individuals become aware of their drug using behavior and the effect it has on them and those around them. Goals include identifying the consequences of use and the changes needed to be successful with recovery. Treatment offers a good chance of recovery, especially with the involvement and support of family and loved ones. Treatment for mental health problems and substance use may include assessment, individual or group counseling, and medication evaluation and monitoring. We also provide Department of Transportation evaluations required when an Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) citation is received.

Sieda's Substance Abuse Services program is licensed by the Iowa Department of Public Health. Behavioral Health and Treatment Services provides outpatient substance abuse treatment and evaluation services. Our programs begin with a thorough evaluation of the treatment needs of our clients followed by the development of a comprehensive treatment plan intended to address the specific concerns identified by the client.
