People undergoing stressful life events may turn to alcohol to help alleviate their distress and cope with problems. While the Marine Corps and Navy maintain a 'zero tolerance' policy for drug use, leaders should make every reasonable effort to retain Marines and Sailors when problems with alcohol or drugs surface, and help them return to full productivity and a healthy lifestyle. The SACC exists to provide treatment services to restore and return active duty Marines and Sailors to their units so they can perform in a way that reflects favorably on the Marine Corps, the Marine’s unit, and the individual Marine, and more critically, allows the Marine to continue to be a productive and efficient. SACC’s primary mission is to combat alcohol and drug abuse through awareness, prevention, and treatment to eligible personnel and the organization’s services are intended to prevent the recurrence of further substance abuse. |
