Description: The Kinsella Treatment Center (KTC) is a CARF accredited, Department of Public Health licensed Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) program for opiate-addicted persons utilizing prescribed methadone, Buprenorphine/Suboxone® and supportive counseling in conjunction with other support and referral services. Services are provided by a team of physicians, nurses, counselors, and other professionals. Following detoxification from opiates, the strategy of the MAT program is to utilize opiate substitution medications to minimizing the long-term effects of craving, which for many individuals, creates a high risk for opiate drug use and the subsequent triggering of a new cycle of addiction behavior. Supervised maintenance of opiate substitution medications on a long-term basis minimizes cravings, allowing the person to build time in abstinence and to develop a personal program of successful addiction recovery. As part of the MAT program, clients participate in individual, group, and family counseling to address drug use, personal, family, social network, employment, health, and legal issues. Treatment of co-occurring psychiatric disorders are included as part of this comprehensive approach to care. All of these issues are important in building a program of stable recovery which will facilitate the individual’s ability to fulfill important life goals. There are decades of research evidence which support the effectiveness of this combined approach to treatment. Ancillary services include confidential HIV rapid testing. Along with the testing, individuals are provided education on HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases (STD), Tuberculosis (TB) and safer-sex practices. In addition, the Center for Human Services is federally funded to provide specialized services to address the specific individual needs of HIV/AIDS clients.

Description: The Drug Intervention Program provides a viable alternative to incarceration by providing an effective solution to drug use and drug-related crime through the innovative use of comprehensive supervision and substance abuse treatment, drug testing, judicial monitoring, sanctions and incentives. This is accomplished by: expediting the identification and assessment of substance abuse treatment needs of clients referred by the courts; the timely adjustment of outpatient treatment capacity to meet the needs of the target population; improving the engagement and retention of the target population in treatment through Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET) and culturally appropriate services; increasing coordination within the substance abuse treatment and criminal justice systems; and providing case management services throughout the treatment process to ensure that all client needs are met. Recovery Wellness Center (RWC) is a Department of Public Health licensed program offering adolescent prevention and outpatient services. The outpatient program serves male and female individuals up to 21 years of age who are involved in the problematic use of substances and/or who have been affected by substance abuse within the family system. Treatment services begin with a comprehensive assessment to identify those areas in the adolescent’s life that may be contributing to his/her problematic involvement with substances. This initial assessment is used to formulate individualized treatment goals and services appropriate to the client’s needs. Treatment include individual, group, and family/couples sessions. The counseling groups are designed to help individuals learn the tools and skills needed to reduce their use of substances and eventually become abstinent. In addition, adolescents are assisted in establishing positive peer supports and recreational activities. Family/couples sessions are strongly encouraged to help family members improve communication, strengthen their relationships, and better understand their respective roles in supporting recovery. Prevention services focus on decreasing underage drinking and illicit substance use, such as marijuana, cocaine, opiates, and pharmaceutical drugs. Our prevention program successfully implements specialized groups within high school, middle and elementary schools using an evidence-based treatment model which targets students that are either actively involved in substance use, or have been identified as being at high-risk for substance abuse.
